No Copy

All web pages (apart from a few that contain content that falls in the public domain) are protected by copyright. At least that is what many countries copyright laws say. Unfortunately there are some countries and many web users who do not abide by this. To them a web page can be freely copied unless the page displays a copyright notice (and many will even ignore a copyright notice and copy the page anyway - but there is nothing that can be done about them).

To protect your web page content aginst inadvertent theft by those who don't understand that your content cannot be freely copied you should make sure that the page displays a current copyright notice at the bottom of each page. By generating the notice using Javascript we can even have the notice update itself automatically each year to include the current year in the notice.

To generate the code for a notice to add to the bottom of your pages simply enter your name and the year you started creating your site and press the Create button to create a custom copyright notice.

Author:
Site Began (year):

Once you have generated your code you then need to select it from the text box above (there is a highlight all button beneath it to make this easier) and paste it into the bottom of your web page that you wish to protect immediately before the </body> tag. So now you have a notice on each page telling people that they should not copy your content. This will stop people from copying your content who don't realise that they shouldn't and will make your web page content as secure as it can be on the web (apart from if you embed individual copyright notices directly into your images). Of course it wont stop people deliberately copying your content but it will at least help when you take the thieves to court.
